Homemade [Paleo Friendly] Deodorant

On my journey to control the amount of chemicals and crap that i introduce to my body, my most recent project is homemade deodorant. As I mentioned in a previous post, I've embraced the no poo shampoo/conditioner method and had already begun using coconut oil on my underarms with a sprinkle of baking soda. But the time has come to give Peter a bit of relief and introduce some nicely scented essential oils to the mix!

So here's what I did:  2 Tbsp. beeswax pellets 1 Tbsp. shea butter 5 Tbsp. coconut oil 1/4 cup arrowroot powder 1/4 cup aluminum free baking soda 10-15 drops lemongrass essential oil 10-15 drops cedar essential oil 2 deodorant tubes (cleaned out, if used!) Step 1 - create a double boiler with a glass bowl (i used a pyrex - easy to clean wax out of) and a pot of boiling water. melt the beeswax pellets in the bowl. Step 2 - add the coconut oil and shea butter to the melted beeswax. stir occasionally until completely melted and remove from the heat. Step 3 - stir in the arrowroot powder and baking soda until no clumps remain Step 4 - stir in the essential oils and pour the mixture into the deodorant containers. you'll want to let the mixture settle in the containers for a couple of hours before putting the lids on and/or using. So a few caveats would be that this is deodorant and not antiperspirant, keep in a cool place, only roll up what you intend to use because this will be softer than regular deodorant and use sparingly. Next homemade skincare project will be lotion!
