It's no secret that we live in a society that promotes instant gratification and "quick fixes". We want results and we want them in the fastest, easiest way possible.
But where do we draw the line?
Today, we came across an article about a new pill designed to help you poop. (Steven Colbert talks about it on his show as well!) We're not talking about a laxative. Rather, it's a vibrating capsule that causes the intestines to contract, which then helps you produce a bowel movement. (For real?) According to the article...
The novel little capsule comes from a team of researchers at the Tel-Aviv Sourasky Medical Center. Headed by gastroenterologist Yishai Ron, the group found that setting the pill to start vibrating six to eight hours after consumption nearly doubled the weekly bowel movements participants, who suffered from chronic constipation, just from taking the pill twice a week.
Whoa.
So what's more extreme?
Eating a real food diet, free of gluten, dairy, soy, sugar, and artificial sweeteners? Or swallowing a small vibrating engine? If you're constipated, there's no need to resort to ingesting a foreign object into your system to help you poop. Instead, you can make diet and lifestyle changes that are safe and just as effective for moving things along.
